Connecting High iQ to Follow Up Boss
High iQ connects to Follow Up Boss natively through the Follow Up Boss API. There is no Zapier step, no third-party connector and no separate connector subscription. The connection takes about five minutes.

Before you start
- A Follow Up Boss account with admin access. Only admins can create API keys.
- A High iQ account. Create a free account if you don't have one yet. No credit card required.
- A list of the Follow Up Boss tags, ponds and stages you want the AI agents to work against. You can change these later.
1. Generate a Follow Up Boss API key
- In Follow Up Boss, go to
Admin → API. - Select
Create API Key. - Name the key something you will recognise later, for example
High iQ. - Copy the key.
The key is shown only once
Follow Up Boss displays the API key a single time. Copy it before closing the dialog. If you lose it, delete the key and create a new one, then paste the new key into High iQ.
API key restrictions
If your Follow Up Boss account uses API key restrictions, the key must be allowed to read and write people, notes, calls, tasks, tags and stages. A read-only key will connect but nothing will write back.
2. Connect the key in High iQ
- In High iQ, go to
Settings → Integrations. - Choose
Follow Up Boss. - Paste the API key and save.
High iQ validates the key immediately. A successful connection shows the Follow Up Boss account name and the sync status, which stays visible inside High iQ rather than on a third-party site.
3. Set your inbound rules
Leads reach the AI agents through Inbound Rules. Each rule is a trigger, an optional condition, and the agents that should pick the lead up. The integration is event-driven, so a matching lead is imported and worked as it happens rather than on a nightly sync.

Use the tags, ponds and stages that already exist in your Follow Up Boss account. You do not need to create a parallel structure for High iQ.
4. Configure dispositions and writeback
Every conversation is auto-dispositioned from what was actually said. Each disposition maps to a High iQ pipeline stage and drives what gets written back to the contact.

Decide here which dispositions create a task, which apply tags, and how tasks are assigned using your round-robin or weighted rotation. Real estate CRM integrations write pipeline stage.
5. Test the connection
- Create a test contact in Follow Up Boss that matches one of your inbound rules, using a phone number you can answer.
- Confirm the lead appears in High iQ within a few seconds.
- Answer the call, have a short conversation and hang up.
- Open the contact in Follow Up Boss and confirm the note, call log, tags, task and stage are all present.
Once that round trip is clean, turn the agents on. New leads are called in under 60 seconds.

Troubleshooting
- Leads are not importing. Check that the lead actually matches an inbound rule condition. Tag and pond names are matched exactly.
- The connection saved but nothing writes back. The API key is likely restricted to read access. Create an unrestricted key or widen the permissions, then paste the new key.
- A lead was called twice. Confirm the pause rules are enabled. High iQ pauses on a contact as soon as a human logs a call or text.
- A custom field is empty. Standard Follow Up Boss fields map automatically. Custom fields are mapped during onboarding.
